Resignation Announcement
With mixed emotions Alamo Metro Chorus and Ryan Heller are sharing that Ryan is stepping down as the director of AMC. Ryan has been given some new exciting musical opportunities, and we cannot hold him back from expanding his professional career.
We will be forever grateful for the 6 years we have been blessed with Ryan at the helm. The education he provides along with his vast barbershop knowledge and influence have propelled AMC to the next level and we are extremely proud of our experiences under his direction. Ryan Heller
Ryan Heller has been thrilled to lead the wonderful musicians of the Alamo Metro Chorus of Sweet Adelines since 2019. A popular coach, speaker, and guest conductor, Ryan works to bring out the optimal performance in each musician. With his trademark exuberance, Ryan is as energy-driven as the sound and performance he demands! Under his leadership the chorus became the Region 10 champion chorus in 2022 and 2024!
In his professional career, Ryan had been the Artistic Director and Conductor of Chorus Austin in Austin, TX since 2009. With Chorus Austin, Ryan has received numerous awards, including, and 2017 Dale Warland Singers Commission Award from Chorus America, and the 2018 Austin Critic’s Table Award for Best Classical Performance. Past positions include Music Director/Conductor of the Southwest Washington Symphony, and Co-founder/Conductor of Portland Vocal Consort and the Columbia Chorale of Oregon. He was also the director of the Pride of Portland Chorus of Sweet Adelines in Portland OR for many years.
Ryan received his Bachelor’s of Music Degree in Conducting from Chapman University and his Master of Music Degree in Conducting from Portland State University.
